If you’re one of the many homeowners who have been convinced of the fact that you should avoid roofing repairs or replacements during the winter season, then join us as we explore just why you have been misled all this time. While we understand that in certain areas the temperatures do make things exceptionally difficult for roofing contractors, in many cases installing a roof in winter is no different in summer – only a little colder.
Seasonal Changes
In South Africa, the majority of our rainfall is seen in the hotter months, except the Western Cape which tends to get some heavy rainfall during winter. Rain is probably the only factor that truly affects whether you can install or repair your roof, which is, of course, because it makes things a little too slippery and gives rise to the potential for serious injuries. Thus, it appears to make more sense to encourage South African homeowners to get their repairs or replacements done before summer when leaks and cracks can make for a very unpleasant time spent at home.
A Common Misconception
There are a large number of roofing companies that will stray away from working in winter months because they use adhesives rather than hot air-welded seams for their flat roofing systems. In cold weather, adhesives tend to freeze and distort in terms of their chemical composition, which would essentially be the reason for premature failure. Fortunately, this is not a problem for our clients at Dezzo Roofing.
Anywhere, Anytime
The fact of the matter is that if there is a roof that needs to be installed or one that simply needs a bit of fixing, there is no time of the year that we can’t help you. Whether you are based in the warmest place to be – none other than Sunny Durban – or you are up in the Drakensburg where weather conditions include heavy snowfall at certain times of the year, there is not a roof we cannot install, nor is there a solution we cannot find.
If you are looking for excellence in roofing solutions this winter, visit Dezzo Roofing for a range of comprehensive services specifically suited to your roofing needs.
